Design Brief

Following a consultative design process, which dived deeply into all the aspects of their analytical operation, this empty warehouse was transformed into a large ground floor laboratory space and first-floor office via a newly constructed mezzanine.

Critical to the design process was the requirement to comply with Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) requirements. Zeta Analytical holds an official Certificate of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Compliance issued by the MHRA for both human and veterinary medicinal products, and this is critical to their business operation.

McFeggan Brown then undertook a complete mechanical and electrical installation to create the laboratories and offices on the new mezzanine, extensive partitioning works, drylining and fireproofing.

Particular attention was placed on a comprehensive plan for the laboratory including fume cupboards, HVAC and data infrastructure to support advanced pharmaceutical testing requirements. This included ensuring six air changes per hour across all laboratory spaces.

Project Delivery

Partitions and doors were installed throughout both floors with fire walls created for the lab and rear staircase.

The mezzanine was aligned to health and safety standards through full protection from fire boarding.

Extensive HVAC included ductwork, wiring, condensers, insulation before vacuum and gas systems, and a system for the chemical extraction, all aspects finally being fully tested for completion.
