Amie Twineham on working with McFeggan Brown
COWI required a design-led Cat B fit-out at 199 Bishopsgate on the edge of London’s financial district, stripping back to shell and core before transforming into a high-performing office.
Key requirements included:
- Three booths provide sound-proofed, private meetings or calls.
- A large 26-seat boardroom overlooking London
- Well-being room with soft furnishings for relaxation, designed to replicate the look and feel of a residential sitting room.
- Collaboration area with generous seating, a water cooler and library to solve problems, exchange ideas and work towards common goals.
- Maintain a high-quality Cat B finish with a strong end-user experience.
Project Delivery
We delivered the project over an 18-week programme, navigating budgetary changes to ensure the project was completed on time and on budget.
Challenges included working in a large occupied building with other tenants, having to book in our deliveries, broken lifts and building-wide issues with the fire compression system. However, having such a great team in London ensured that these issues weren’t detrimental to completion.
With strong on-site leadership and clear communication, the project was controlled and coordinated efficiently while ensuring a smooth delivery and a finished environment ready for occupation.
