Project Brief
Situated on the ground floor and basement of a historic waterside commercial unit in Angel is Gaussion Ltd, a London-based start-up company and inventors of the MagLiB technology. Their patent-protected innovation has demonstrated charging time reductions of over 67% on commercial Li-ion batteries.
In order to help take this technology into the mass market, Co–founders Chun Tan and Tom Heenan reached out to Kastner for aid with designing and fitting out their office and laboratory space to suit their growing team.
Our work included the following:
- Stripping out walls to open up the space.
- Building a new partition around the stairwell to create a reception area.
- Installing new flooring and a kitchen in the basement.
In addition, two separate extraction systems were installed: including two LEV extraction arms.
The existing distribution board was upgraded to provide the power required for the clients’ equipment, with a monitor showing real time power consumption.
A run of laboratory benching was installed, including a handwash sink, a lab sink, and an emergency eyewash station. 2No. mobile tables and a mobile double cupboard unit were also supplied.
The client was very happy with the end result, and we were glad to work with Gaussion and be a part of their exciting journey.
It was a pleasure to work with Jude and the McFeggan Brown team. We had a tight timeline both in terms of starting the project and the targeted completion. It was also a rather bespoke fit-out with some very specific requirements. Neither the timeline nor the scope of work were a problem for the team, and they completed all work on time and to budget, while remaining very responsive throughout.
