Laboratory Fit Out – Optimas, Droitwich

Project Brief

A recently completed a Kastner laboratory installation at the new Barton Laboratory in Droitwich, West Midlands.

Personnel from Optimas visited the showroom facility in Bristol to look at the quality of the furniture, get some fresh ideas on laboratory storage solutions and discuss the layout options. This initial consultation was crucially important to get an understanding of the client’s needs.

The New Lab

The new laboratory was to replace the existing facility in Gloucester, and was to accommodate the metallurgical test equipment from the Gloucester facility.

Detailed drawings were prepared for the clients to approve before the commencement of manufacturing. A schedule of work was then prepared.

The first step in the project was to lift and remove the existing flooring prior to laying down industrial grade vinyl.

Finishing Touches

The laboratory bench framework was then fitted and the worktops cut to the required size.

The finished laboratory includes a number of features provided to the client’s specification including a special storage cupboard, and drip cup sinks cut in the worktop to allow for equipment requiring a drain tube. The drip cups have a lid to allow the full depth of the worktop to be used where the drainage points are not required.
